Centennial Hops

A Domestic - Dual Purpose Hop
Centennial - Domestic - Dual Purpose
Centennial is a new variety released in 1990. A hybred and dual purpose hop developed by Charles Zimmermann at the Washington State University station at Prosser. A cross between
Brewer's Gold and a selected USDA male, it is a mid-season maturing vigorous hop. In early test plots, Centennial had an average alpha of 11.5%, but in production averages around 10%. Bred to be both a higher alpha and an aroma variety, microbrewers looking for a hop with a unique flavor have supported the variety with fine results. Being dual pupose, they can be used for both bittering and flavor/aroma. As a bittering hop, they lend a crisp citrus bite. As a aroma hop, they have a citrus floral aroma.

Malt is the soul of beer... and yeast gives it life..

but the kiss of the hop is the vitality of that life!
