The Columbus hop is a relatively new variety that is becoming increasingly popular. Also known as Tomahawk, it is a bittering hop bred and selected from the Hopunion breeding program. It’s orgin is owned by HUSA-CEZ, LLC, a joint venture between Charles E. Zimmerman and Hopunion USA, Inc., making it a patened hop. It has been considered similar to Zeus. It is plentiful in Lupulin, makeing it an exceptional bittering hop with a very good flavor. Although it is mainly bred for it's high alpha, it is also popular for it's oil profile, making it’s aroma pleasently pungent. A good hop for IPA's, Pale Ales, Stouts, Imperials, and even some Lagars. Alpha Acid: 14-16% |
