| Britain's most important hop accounting for up to 40% of total hop production. Developed by Wye College in Kent from Northern Brewer and a male Goldings. Widely used for its high alpha acid content combined with a pleasant english hop aroma that can be quite intense. Mainly used for robust bittering in British ales and lagers. No other hop is really quite like it. Although it is used primarily as a bittering hop, several English breweries use it for finishing and or dry hopping. The Alpha Acid ranges from 9-13%. | ||
